  • sparkling wine.

    Hello ,

elderflower is usually made as a sparkling wine. Brew it as a wine, bottle it, but add half teaspoon of sugar per bottle first or there abouts. I add the sugar to the wine before I bottle it. Take a small amount of wine and warm it then dissolve the bulk sugar in that, pour back into the wine, let brownian motion do its bit then fill the bottles.
Small but important point you must leave a gap 40mm'ish between the wine and the cork base to allow the gas to build up.

More importantly...make sure you use proper champange type bottles or you could end up with glass hand grenades.

        Sparkling Wine

Thanks for your input but sadly all to often my results come out wrong. I just need somebodies recipe that I can compare to see If I am on the right track.
I make wine in the normal way untill fermentation has ceased and wine is clear then add two teaspoons of sugar per bottle ,fit cork & wire and leave in a warm ish place for a month. How does that sound????
        Cheers
