  • What's your comfort food for cold days?

Following on from the hot drink thread - what do you crave when it turns below zero outside?
What's your favourite recipe / comfort food to warm up with???
I'll start by confessing to a RICE PUDDING thing..
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Home made creamy, buttery mash with preferably, smoked haddock. Otherwise, just mash on its own!

I get a sugar rush by having a glass of homemade (non alcoholic) ginger wine in the morning before going out. Is there any way I can make it without sugar though?

Ooops, just realised this could be a hot or cold drink but deffo in the morning not last thing at night!

Irish stew. Have made a massive pan full today. Even included some of my borlotti beans (grew them for first time last year and this is the first time I've used any). Must admit I was a bit sceptical about them but they were delicious. Will definately be growing them again this year.

A beef Oxo cube in a cup with a couple of slices of crusty bread to go with it. I always break the bread into small pieces and drop them in the cup then when they've soaked up the liquid I fish them out with a spoon. Yum.

Homemade veggie soup with lots of ground black pepper in it.

It was my son-in-laws birthday today and my daughter asked me to cook something a little different for him.

We had Tom Yum - a spicey Thai soup

Pan fried partridge with blackpudding and a red wine jus
                    Dauphinoise Sweet potatoes
                    Roast parsnips
                    Braised asparagus

White chocolate profiterols with brandy (bought, not made)

It was smashing, even if I do say so myself.

Cook some twisty pasta, drain and pour in a tin of Heinz Tomato soup.

Warm soup and drop in some chunks of cheese.

                      Serve. Smile.

Pasta with a ton of freshly grated parmesan cheese, garlic, oil, black pepper and basil. Glass of red wine.

Or Heinz tomato soup over half a pound of cubed cheddar with fresh soda bread. Glass of red wine.

ANYTHING! Sweet or savoury if I'm cold I have to eat. If I'm stressed I have to eat, if I'm sad I need to eat.... Roll on the warm weather for me lol.

Maybe I need to be hypnotised or something to just stop EATING in winter lol

Or maybe I was a bear in a previous life and something inside me remembers?!

                              lol
