  • oops, sorry mate didnt mean to bury your leeks

    What a day .........

Finally managed to persuade my local arboriculturalist to deliver a load of wood chips to our allotment, For free of course, they get charged by the council to get rid of them so its a mutual win win, or so I thought! sent directions, maps, drawings and exact location where to drop them on our allotment. All ready to finish off our spanky paths between the beds and wallow in the devine smell on newly chipped wood - yummy.

Just got a phone call from allotment holder 100 metres from my plot to say he has just dropped the chips on their leeks .......

I have only been on this site since April and i really dont think I have scored many brownie points today with this total disaster

We where doing really well in trying to fit in with everyone and now this has happened. Its going to cost me a fortune in wine and choccies to passify them, not to mention getting the damn chips moved from where they are to where they should be.

Why is it the best laid plans always seem to go so dramatically wrong when you least want them to?

I took the "ranting" phone call right in the middle of a work meeting with various VIP'S and all they heard was "What?" "He's done What?" Its buried how many?
Sorry, grovel, so sorry etc etc etc.

Other half is away with his kids in the West Midlands at the moment so I am left with my dilema to sort out on my own, always the way

Oh well, best put my best grovelling hat on and go try to save some leeks from death by drowning in wood chips.

We are already in the bad books for having a bonfire when the wind was in the wrong direction, hey ho. Tomorrow can only get better

Whoops, Just grovel and apologise lots, move the chips and hopefully all will be well. Only the most unreasonable of people will not see it for the accident it is.
    Good Luck

Oh dear. Still, if you are apologetic and explain the error and ask plot holder if he wants any for his troubles (as well as the ones currently on his leeks) I'm sure things will be fine.

And they say men can't read maps!

These things happen......at least leeks are resilient and and squished ones will hopefully grow back.

I'm sure the ranting was due to the horror of finding the leek bed under wood chip; and he would have calmed down by now. Hopefully.....
