  • "Misting" bean flowers?

I have read that misting runner bean flowers helps the beans set and was wondering if this method would help my broadbeans, which although producing masses of flowers, seem to be dropping the blooms without setting many beans.

This may be a liitle redundant given the torrential rain we had here (and it seems, everywhere else) last night, but I'd like people's opinions in case the sun comes back.

the reason for misting runner bean flowers is that they droop in hot dry weather. However, this site says it's an old wives tale, and doesn't increase the set at all. Garden Centre - Runner Beans

I was told that if you put a handfull of lime into a full watering can and water the beans with it, it will help the flowers to set.
Don't know if it's true, has anyone else heard of this?
