  • Hi, newbie....

    Hello everyone,

I have only found this site this evening and have been reading various posts for ages now!
Am VERY new to gardening (and enjoying it) even though i've had a garden some time, this credit crunch has really made me want to do/make/grow more stuff for myself and family!
Am going to be growing some veg hopefully, not sure what is the best to start with though

Looking forward to chatting to you all!

Hi welcome to the Vine. As a start think about what you like to eat/cook and go from there

        Hello Tinks..
I would suggest a few salad things as an easy start. Sow a few lettuces, a few radishes, a few beetroot and a few spring onions every few weeks for the next few months and you got a whole summer of salads. Carrots are pretty easy to - just drop a few rows in some raked soil and wait
Then once you have a feel for GYO you can get a greenhouse and go mad like the rest of us...
I`m only in my second year of being into GYO, and my first with a glasshouse and my croplist reads thus -
        Tomato/Chilli/Pepper/Strawbs (all in greenhouse)
Lettuce/Raddish/beetroot/Spring onion/Carrot (all in succesional sowings)
        Perpetual spinnach/asparagus/peas/beans/sweetcorn/sunflowers/Broc/PSB/Brussels
        Blackberry/Plum (in hedgerow)

making room for apple and cherry trees next - see - its addictive!
