    Hi to all
Have been down to the lottie to work for the first time in almost 6 weeks today. Managed an hours digging before the foot gave out so I had to give in. At this rate by the time we reach the end it will all have regrown( the weeds I mean ).
When will the weeds stop growing!!!!
Why are my potatoes supposedly for Christmas not even showing yet!!!! In fact they look the same as the day they were planted. Guess they may be okay for next Christmas!!!

I'll have no potatoes for Christmas either SS. I've been growing them in containers all summer with marvellous results, but I've had no success with my Christmas effort. One lot failed to sprout, one lot sprouted lovely and got drowned, and one lot just rotted. Must give it a more serious effort next year.

Try putting fleece and a cloche over the spuds..you may still be ok!

I tried Christmas spuds (a token gesture) in a container, but most of the vegetation has died off. I've kind of left them to it though, is there any hope for them? I'm sure I read that just because the vegetation has gone, doesn't mean there's not loads happening below the surface.

Wish I could even find where thy are amongst the weeds!!!
Having said that ,they may grow for next Christmas. You certainly can't fault my optimism.

              Hi Dexter and all.
Know what you mean about not visiting the lotte. Been unable to visit mine for about the same time scale as you Dexter. Scary. Thought someone els had been and thrown loads of stuff around it. turned out it was an explosion of growth due to warm weather, a wet spell and a super abundance of weeds :-(

Hi Waffler et al, My Christmas potatoes were like yours, no top growth for one reason or another. I decided to have a poke about in the buckets before emptying them out And surprise - lovely little potatoes in there. I've not given up hope of potatoes for Christmas and will nurse them along and se what happens. Good luck with yours.

We are now weed free again
Also planted green manure which the birds seem to have enjoyed judging by the footprints
                    Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained!!
