  • weve now got TWO!!!

Well what can i say being fairly new to this game having got our first plot in August which is all dug/weeded/bedded/shedded etc etc and looking mighty fine was up there at the weekend as I just cant keep away plus needed cabbage for lunch! decided with OH another plot was required if we were to have room for fruit, we share our plot with some good friends, we were all in agreement then lo the allotment boss came trundling by and he was cornered and coerced until he finally agreed to give us another that I have to say no-one else would probably take on as it is close to overhanging tree/hedge bit of a funny shape, weeds head high am I excited.. you bet after much hilarity the boys started choping down overhanging branches etc weaving a fence with cutoffs as they went (the big branches will be goingon the open fire at christmas!) to give us a clearer picture we then decided we would have enough room for chickens too, allotment boss agreed all ok. so going from august when we thought it would be fun to have an allotment and grow a few veg to being completely smitten and having two so now not only will be have fruit and veg but eggs too and wood for the fire absolutely fantastic just wish I didnt have to go to work it sort of gets in the way a bit

Wow, balliol, get you with two!!!

You lucky thing, I must admit the allotment next door to mine is free and I am tempted and I haven't even cleared mine yet. Chickens as well, better not let my son see this as I'll be getting some of those aswell.

Hope you have lots of fun! Good luck

You have one then that is too small then you have two then that will not be enough then you will have to get another..

That's brill balliol. It's great that you are sharing the work. Would love chooks but that's no go on our site and Mr E has ruled it out at home for the moment cos Miss E and rabbitus need the garden.

          Enjoy.

I have to admit.... my neighbour hasn't been on her plot for 4 weeks now and she started just before me and is rent free at the mo... myslef and another are starting to think she won't come back. I've had the okay from my OH to 'enquire' about having it if she doesn't come back...

It's got an okay shed on it, so I wouldn't need to rebuild mine, her weeds aren't as ruley and she has a couple of mini fruit trees that she inherited...

It certainly is infectious isn't it?

Well done Balliol. As a note of warning though to all you new allotmenteers two plots take twice as long to weed and twice as long to water. Be sure you have enough spare time before committing yourselves to a second plot especially if you work full time.

I must admit I have considered a second plot. I would like one dedicated to fruit and the other vegetables. If I ever get round to it thats another story.
I only have 5 rods and at times I am short of space. So if you get the chance go for it.

I've just put a call in to our club secretary as the plot next to mine is free. Just waiting for him to call me back. Really excited. You've inspired me!

Oh brill bex im so pleased, I hope you get it.

Im still as excited as I was at the beginning of the week, we havent even cleared it properly yet and already we are being asked for surplus eggs

A full time job can get in the way lesley jay and I note your word of caution but with the 4 of us if one of us cant make it (and I will vow never to be the one because I love it so much) it doesnt really matter.....yet

Thanks for you good wishes everyone. I cant wait to get down there tomorrow.

Enjoy it!! I have two plots so I know there is alot more work to do. However, I have been able to set about two thirds of one plot over to fruit. I can experiment and grow whatever vegetables I want because I have the space. Sorry if I sounded a right miserable sod!

Now LJ, you know you could never sound like a miserable sod. My garden is about the size of half a plot but it still takes up a lot of my time. having said that, i would'nt be without it. I do envy you with your two plots.
