Gewurztraminer vines?

I'm sorry 25cowlane I can't help with that one but I'd be keen to know how you get on. I'd also like to grow some grapes I have a dead plum tree that could do with something covering it.

Any reason why you want gewurztraminer rather than one of the other white grape varieties?

Just nosey and like to make informed choices rather than just pick something at random.

The main reason for choosing it is I like gewurztraminer wine

Also, from what I understand german varieties tend to do well in this country.

We are fortunate to be able to get some cuttings later on from a red vine located on the next plot to ours, not sure of the variety but it seems to do alright.
I will certainly let you know if I do locate a gewurtz

Are you sure this is what the vine is called? It may just be the "Trade" name or the like. Also, having the same variety of grape doesn't mean it will tast the same as you maynot have the same soil conditions, weather or maybe the Olde Oak vats!

I'd see if you can find what grape variety it is (if it's different) & then try someone like Reads Nurseries or there is one on the Isle of Wight that I can't remember. Failing that the national collection of vines is held at Brogdale & they may sell them but they will probably be expensive.

Excellent, many thanks Nick, I checked Reads and they dont seem to have them but with your Isle of Wight clue and a little more googling I found some from Deacons:

The prices don't seem too bad either, so a big thanks to you

I know I am unlikley to be able to produce replicas of commerically available wines but it seems like it would be a good challenge to see how close I can get
