we have a guy on our allotments who has 3 plots and is 'looking after' one for a lady. His plots are full of tires and builders rubbish and at the entrance gate their is a pile of rubble that has been there 9 years!!!

every year i complain to the counsil, every year they send a dirty plot letter and every year nothing happens.

he tell us all his great plans for his plots and when he gets going there's no stopping him!He was there at the beginning helping the counsil mark out the plots which gave him one very large plot and two regular sized ones. his chickens are shut up in sheds and never come out because they all escape.

he says this interest in allotments is just another fad.

i have taken photo's this year and will send them another email

Doesn't matter where you go in life, you'll come across someone like this. At least there's only one

Try and enjoy your own space and not let the bad apple spoil your pleasure - you can waste a lot of thinking time niggling about it and they're not worth your precious head space ( I speak from experience

)

indeed some fellow allotmenters are pretty badly behaved! my left neighbour keeps taking our stuff so we have to put absolutely everything away every day - leave a bucket out and the next day you'll be retrieving it from their shed! and my right neighbours are just rude, won't speak to you even if you're right next to them saying hello. The rest are lovely though, truly lovely and some have beautiful plots altogether - actually, the best plots are owned by the nicest folks!

We've just been offered a half share in an allotment which meant we queue jumped the waiting list of 4 others. However there is a downside.....the next plot down is covered in sheds (dog kennels) full of "racing" greyhounds and also pigeons. At this time of year the smell isn't so bad, but imagine what it will be like in mid summer !! And the barking last night went on and on when they heard other allotment owners go past with their dogs. (Our sharer has a pointer and whippet, but trained as he's a farmer/hunter)

The owner of said animals has apparently said he'll be moving them this year but apparently has said this before. Heaven knows how the dogs keep warm in the cold weather as the "kennels" aren't heated and greyhounds don't exactly have thick coats. As the site is private (a bequest in a will of a local farmer's wife) there's not much we can do.

Only good thing is at least it is downhill of our plot and downwind hopefully some of the time. Mind you I've mastered the art of mouth breathing for when clean out the litter trays for our 3 cats so may help.

Even though the site is private does it not have rules and regulations? Who allocates the allotments?

You could always inform RSPCA or similar organisation,

Definately inform the RSPCA - it must get very cold and in summer very hot in those sheds.

Sheep... Goats...! Our allotment regs are so strict I probably need special license for all the slugs I'm 'farming'

You could have a quiet word with the local RSPCA, there's strict rules about animals & space and it's all changed recently so they can act straight away rather than lots of painful to-ing and fro-ing. They're also completely discrete so you wont get dropped in it - I know I've used them.

Cars blocking roads.

Ello Krazy Krok. We have the same problem on our site too. We went in one day to find a plot holder with not only his van on the road, but his tools, saw horse and wood all over the place. It took him ages to begrudgingly move it so we could pass. To get to our plot is sometimes a battle, as we are the last plot on the road with no other access for cars. We frequently find cars parked in the road despite there being room in front of their plot. I sometimes have to restrain my husband as I'm sure one of these days he will turn into the Green Hulk and send said offending cars into orbit! It states quite clearly in our tenancy agreement, that roads have to be kept clear. Make us really seethe!

Set aside has to be applied for by the farmer but if she do's have set aside the spy sattelite take's picture's to make sure thing's are beining right..
