  • AGM Agenda?

I've just pinned on the noticeboard the Agenda for the forthcoming allotment AGM.
    • Apologies
    • Minutes of 2008 AGM
    • Matters arising
    • Secretaries report
    • Treasurers report
    • Election of Officers
    • Any other business
I have been told that the Election of officers should be higher up the ranking as the 'New' Committee cannot be expected to implement the old committees mandates?
I disagree with this as any new mandates should ONLY come in AOB, AFTER the new committee is elected!

    Your thoughts please!

I agree, get your new voted in members to bring up all the issues in AOB that they want sorting, with some solutions that they [and you] agree that you want to implement. As Secretary you can propose that unresolved issues are taken forward to the new committee if agreement isn't found during the matters arising section.

    Takes me back....never again.

        Snadger, you are correct.

        Minutes of last meeting first.
Matters arising needs to be restricted to factual errors in the minutes and any proposed actions to be taken should be postponed to AOB.
The various reports detail what the outgoing officers have done.
Again matters arising needs to be restricted to factual errors and any proposed actions to be taken should be postponed to AOB.
Election of new officers comes next.
Then AOB to cover any actions that could arise from the preceding reports, as well as any really new stuff.
New officers then get until the next committee meeting to settle in etc.

It is ridiculous to expect any new, as opposed to re-elected, officer to pick up stuff and run with it at the AGM they are elected at.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.
