  • Re-using compost for potatoes?

I grew a load of potatoes in pots last year.
Can I re-use the same pots and compost for potatoes again this year?
Apologies if this has been asked before. I'm new to vegetable gardening.

I dont see why not im sure people do it if it was the ground....although you do rotate beds each season....so maybe not....lol....that hasnt helped has it.
Its just to avoid any build up of disease in the soil

Maybe if you dug in some manure to the compost..re mixed it and distibuted it back in the pots...the pots themselves should be fine.
Impossible is not a fact its an opinion...
Impossible is not a decleration its a dare...
    Impossible is potential......

I would use it for something else. It's better not to have the same crop in the same soil year on year. Use it for carrots maybe, or courgettes, they do ok in pots if you water well. Use fresh compost for your spuds (or compost that's had something else in it) and beef it up with some pelletted chicken manure or something.

I agree Flum! It's expecting a bit much to grow potatoes, which are heavy feeders, in the same compost two years running!

Carrots or salad crops would probably be ok in it though!
