I have saved some of the seed from my runners Lady Di and Painted Lady if I grow them this year will they grow ok or is there a danger that due to cross contamination they wont grow true.

Think that runner beans do cross but you could be in for a treat with your new type!

I've grown Lady Di and Painted Lady together for about 7 years now and saved seed each year. Presume they've cross pollinated etc but I still get the pretty bi-coloured flowers on some plants and get a good, tasty crop each year.Comment

They reckon you need to be about half a mile away from any other variety to keep runners true. However, as others have said, you'll still get a decent crop and you might find you prefer your own variety!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
