  • A lurker emerges

Hi everyone, i've been lurking for a while but decided to take the plunge and officially join up.

I'm new to the whole growing veggies thing. I bought myself a couple of whiskey barrels and smaller pots and grew a few carrots and parsnips (very small) but had a lot of success with my peas. This year I am hoping to be a bit more organised.

I've got a lot of questions and will probably bug the more experienced gardeners with silliness. Hope you can put up with me.

Ask away! If we know the answers we feel clever - and everyone likes to feel clever now and then. It's a great, friendly place to be.

Welcome aboard The Amateur - I'm new to this too, and will consider myself as a newbie for a considerable time yet I'd wager. Enjoy.

Plenty on here with bags of experience, and there's plenty on here with just bags, but you'll soon spot them!

lol thanks everyone for your kindness in posting, I am thoroughly enjoying what I have read so far.

I know what you mean Burnie, I look through the seed catalogues and think - wouldn't that look good in the garden - but realise that there is about as much chance of it surviving as a banana plant. Mind you I'm not that far from Arran but you can't eat palm trees.
