    Hi stroppy scotte
I too am suffering with a white fly epidemic (well my cabbages are) but have no idea what to do. Is there anyone out there with an answer?

Oh I think i know this one...
You can use sticky traps to keep whitefly numbers managable, hang them above the plants in peril. flick the leaves to get them flying they then get trapped, You could also try planting fuchias or tomatoes peppers if you are inside as these are their favourite food plants and they will leave the other stuff alone. But what seems the best is to introduce a cousin of the ladybird, called delp something which attacks adult whiteflies and wander around the green house like clint eastwood in search of bad guys. Not sure if they eat tomatoes though? check.

Thanks. Am off to the allotment in a few minutes and wii work out how many tapes I need.
Will the flies actually cause damage, as yet I have found nothing on the leaves.
        Thanks again

Hi SS - how strange methinks to have little white flies at this time of year (but then I know nothing) a tip I read in a thread a while ago suggested getting a small plank of wood and covering it with thick grease, so I did this near my broccoli, then gave them a good shake and loh and behold, there there loads of little black flies stuck to the grease! it may work with your white ones. good luck! dexterdog

you could spray with liquid derris, that should see the little gits off.

I guess they don't like cooler weather although something has snaffled my Spinach beet.
God help them if they snaffle the cabbages as well . At least they don't like Radishes! !

It was suggested to me that you dowse them with water from a watering can.

I tried this by aiming the rose to blast the under side of the leaves. All that happened was that lots of white flies were disturbed. Then went back.

You could spend time rubbing out the eggs from the underside of the leaves. You need to be regular though.

Hopefully as the weather cools they will die out.

Tried the watering can bit as well. I am sure they enjoyed the bath laughed and resumed their fun
