  • The easy way to dry your chillies

This is my easy way to dry my chillies and it couldn't really be more simple. Thread a needle with cotton thread and as the chillies ripen simply thread them on to join the others.
I wrap the remainder thread around my pan rack and leave it with needle still attached and its just a wee job to unwind an add more chillies as they ripen. All i have to do is nip a chillie free to use it and for chillies larger than Apache you could use fishing line.
It looks pretty cool too. People come in an cant help but admire them.

    pic for you.

They do shrivel as they dry. You can grind them up with a pestle an mortar if they are really dry an stash them in a old spice jar for use as you need them, or just leave them an chop them up shrivelled as you need them. They will still taste good shrivelled or not.

I have loads of unripe green ones, im due to move house next week and have nowhere to store plants indoors/ warm when i do. Can i dry them? If your adding them to oil, can you just pop a couple of whole ones in or do ya have to dry them first?
I have no idea what im doin!
