Has anyone got any efficient ways of getting tomato and leek staining off my hands. Yes I should have been wearing gloves or something I know but if I go to my day job with hands like this they will probably throw a wobbly. So far this evening I have washed them about ten times with various shop bought substances. Coming off but ........ will my hands never be clean?

My father spent all his working life ingreenhouses growing tomatoes, peppers andcucumbers. When he came home in the evening he always washed and scrubbed his hands with Swarvega. Don't know if its still on the market but my dad swore by it.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Have you tried dishwash liquid with a little sugar in it? Or oil and sugar mix? That should clean them up!

When I grew tomatoes for a living I always scrubbed my hands with a nail brush under the cold tap until the green had come off then washed with ordinary soap but if the stain is ingrained you just have to live with it until the skin falls off! Try applying a barrier cream before you touch the plants next time....

I use an anti bactirial hand wash, and even beetroot stains usually come off with that.
