    Advice sought please !!! I have read in a number of publications that it helps tomatoes to set if they are misted daily. I understand what misting means but I can't quite figure out how it helps to set the toms. Surely if you mist the water will run off and take the pollen, or whatever, with it thus fustrating the purpose of misting in the first place. Having said all that, I am misting anyway but I would like to know the theory behind the practice so that I know I'm not wasting my time.

    I have no idea if this is correct but is it because toms don't need insects to pollenate (ie it's by wind) that it either helps to 'settle' and wind blow pollen, or maybe acts a bit like the wind (no baked beans were hurt here, promise ) and does the pollenation?

    Just a thought...
