  • Using turnip tops?

Hi there, I have some turnips over-wintering in the polytunnel. I assume the turnips won't come to much now, but the tops are growing really well! Do they make good eating? Can I use them as 'greens' ?

    Any suggestions very welcome

Always used to as a child in the 50s and 60s. As I recall, they were quite strongly flavoured, rather like kale

They're loverly! Specially with a bit of butter on top - my Nanna used to say butter never ruined anything but black velvet. (She forgot to mention one's figure!)

You can chop them and use them as a stir fry vegetable and the inner tender leaves make a great addition to salads.
          In Asia they pickle them
