  • To be sung to the tune of "I've got sixpence"

I've got tadpoles, lots and lots of tadpoles,
I've got tadpoles swimming in my pond.

Gloat, Gloat, I seem to be way ahead of any one else, six more lots to hatch.

Lol, if I build a pond reet quick - can I pinch some of your taddies on my way home from the airport tomorrow?

If I send you an SAE, can I have some Welsh tadpoles? I think my frogs are vegetarians.

I've not even seen the frogs yet never mind tadpoles. I think mine are still hibernating - I don't blame them, it's freezing here!

Will your poles have much to eat at this time of year Grandpadragon?

My cousin William has made a separate wildlife pond for rearing tadpoles (so his fish don't eat them) and every spring he feeds them home-grown lettuce (he steams it first so it's all soft for them) and they grow about twice as fast as the ones in my pond that have to fend for themselves.

Bucket full by the front ready,
              Two sheds
By all means make it waterproof tho. Be warned it looks like Welsh frogs are like Welshmen Randy blighter's
              Jeannine,
Think they will be OK as there is some algae even the dreaded blanket weed is starting to appear. More worried that when all the other batches hatch they wont have any where to swim.

We have tadpoles here in Wexford too noticed them last weekend, the whole pond is bulging with spawn I'm just going to let nature take it's course with food and space etc. mind you my dogs and cats love to drink the pond water, swallowing thousands no doubt

Hey Grandpadragon, how are your poles doing now?

Our spawn is still just little black dots in jelly...

                    Hi Jeannine
They are fine thanks 3 lots hatched and so 4 more to go but all the spawn is now well down in the water so hope frosts forcast for tonight and next few wont hurt them.
