  • Gardening in the rain

I wonder if any of you viners have been as potty as me this morning and been out gardening in the rain (plus I have a cold as well). I had to get a better support system up for my peas especially as some of them are flowering or lose the lot. Also needed to space out my other stuff as I cant get to it properly when I go on slug patrol and the little b*****s have been having a field day.

Well this very wet and tired gardener is going for a hot shower and a cup of coffee and hope I dont end up with pneumonia

I've been to the garden centre, had lunch out there, bought some plants (climbers for my new trelis) home via wilkinsons for some bit's and pieces, string labels etc...

Hope for a cuppa and a little nap now me thinks!

Also guilty, but I did spend most of the time in the greenhouse drinking tea.

I wish I could have a greenhouse to potter around, if I tried to get in my coldframe the neighbours would phone for the little yellow van, most of them think I'm nuts because I grow my own veg - you just can't convince some people.
            Best wishes

I wish it would just stop belting down with the b****y wet stuff long enough to do anything. If you tryed going out here, you would be drowned within seconds. The sun will probably shine just before It goes dark!Sat in the house making a mess with compost, potting on 30 calandula plants.

We are lucky here in the east - slightly drier than you chaps elsewhere! Still had plenty of the wet stuff though BUT I garden on sand so whenever the sun comes out it is possible to get out in the garden! Everything growing like mad and my beans have come through - yey!

Don't grow webbed feet you lot just yet will you!

You will be pleased to know that I today decided to fit and pipe up two new water butts 210L each in the rain.

I throught it was only mild and could potter around for an hour or so.

Ten mins into pending bits of pipe to make a caccume leval it PI**ED it down.

Maybe you could start a who is the nutter thread?

Hope your cold gets better soon.

The sun came out here at about five, for just long enough to lull me into a false sense of security. I went outside to repot some bits and pieces at which point we had thunder and hail.

had to go out and rescue the red and blackcurrant bushes from being strangled by thistles and weed. All this rain has made the weeds completely take over!
Can't wait for a bit of sunshine!
