  • Greenhouse Guttering

    I'm sure there's a straightforward answer to this...........but I can't find it!

How do I fix guttering/downpipes to an aluminium frame greenhouse?
We moved into a house where the greenhouse was left behind and would like to put it into good use to collect water (as well as the other obvious uses!)

    Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the vine fleetey.

I think you can buy a kit for attaching guttering, not sure though as I haven't looked into that yet since nature has always provided this area with more than sufficient water!!!

The guttering came with my greenhouse and it just clipped on.

As it's aluminium framed, you can just drill through the supports and fix guttering supports with nuts and bolts. Not sure where you can buy greenhouse guttering as a separate item, though. Best substitute I've found so far is from B & Q (small guttering), but it's not quite small enough so I'm still looking.

I have recently had a new greenhouse installed, and had the option of cutters and down pipes fitted. From what I can understand, these items are kept in stock by many of the larger garden centres who supply greenhouses, so it might be a good idea to have a ring around to see if there are any in your area who hold them on the shelf.

check out this company on ebay that sell them. I bought one last year and it is amazing how much water it collects.

My greenhouse has a channel at the base of the roof which forms the guttering as part of the frame. I then bought a cheap kit which gave me plugs for one end of the channel and another plastic piece with a downpipe section at the other end which I have connected to a water butt. Need to clear the channel out pretty often as it gets full of moss and leaves but dead simple.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Do you remember where you bought that from? I've been looking for something like that myself.

I would also be interested in knowing where you got the greenhouse guttering kit, the ebay one seems to have goe.

                          Try thegreenhousepeople.co.uk
I bought my greenhouse from them together with a downpipe kit which cost about £12
