Bees? Absence of.

    Bees? Absence of.

    Decided on Fruit section, could have been one of three.

    Is it just me but I have a garden with daffodils and other flowers out, iris and crocus, and a plum tree in blossom and an apple soon to open.

    However in several days I have not seen a single bee anywhere.
    Big yellow butterfly today, but not a bee.

    Out a few days back with blossom on the Sloe bushes and cannot recall one then either.

    This could be a bad fruit year.

    No blossom here yet but I have seen the odd few bees.

      Plenty of bumble bees here - not seen a honey bee yet but they need a certain temperature before they emerge and it may not have been warm enough yet.

        Seen some bumble-ees, and a honey bee or two, one on the dandelion flowers.
        To see a world in a grain of sand

          Yip got the startings of some blossom on the fruit trees and have seen a few huge bumble bees!!

            My hive bees have been flying in the sunny weather, and they are fetching water mostly from containers around the garden which indicates there is very little nectar around, plenty of pollen going in though. I'm at 5 hives currently, as I lost two for no obvious reason last year but then gained a late swarm (started at 6)

              I've seen lots of bumblies but not so many of the other kinds.

                Yeah our greengage has blossom nearly too, but the weather forecast is looking pretty cold at night for the next week. Hope there's no frost.

                  I've seen several big fat queen bumble bees, and a few tiny bees which I assume are mining bees or similar. No honey bees yet, though.

                    Oh, now I'm not sure what the smaller bees I saw were, maybe mining bees.

                            Saw a honey bee type (think it was a 'wild' variety) on the flowers at about midday today. It seemed to be resting. When I went closer and put it in my shadow, it flew a few inches away to get back into the sunshine, so I assume it is a bit on the cool side still.
                            Location:- Rugby, Warwckshire on Limy clay (within sight of the Cement factory)
