Is this sweeter than either the black or red currant. One book describes it as sweet like grapes which is something I can eat, otherwise I don't like sharp, tart taste. Blanca variety is one I can buy but are there better ones?

Sorry for the post, I've just managed to get the answers myself inclu past thread...white is sweetest, then red, then black and they taste like grapes. If anybody wants to talk about variety they have, would be glad to hear of this.

I love white currants! They have such a fresh grape taste picked and eaten fresh from the bush. I have one bush of white versailles which I purchased last year. It has fruited over a long period and the currants hang in good condition on the plant for a long time. I may try striking a few cuttings this year to give me more plants as I believe they root easily and can be grown as a standards, as can gooseberries!

Thanks Snadger, I'll go get one myself if it means like I'm eating grapes without having to grow a real one.
