    GYO's editorial assistant with another growing question for you to answer!

    Good afternoon growers, I hope you're all well.

    I'm back again with another growing question that I'd love for you all to answer. It is, what are the gardening jobs/projects you're planning on, or tend to do, in April?

    If you haven't planned that far ahead yet (and that's okay!), then I'd love to know what you got up to around the month of April last year.

    Let me know in the comments below! A few answers will be featured in the April issue of the magazine so do let me know if you're happy for your response to be featured ☺

    I'm currently in the process of deciding on, and then sourcing, 400 (!) seed spuds of the same variety.

    These will be passed to our local primary school for the children to grow on as a competition. Each child will be given a sack and two tubers just before the Easter holidays, with the brief that they plant them during that weekend.

    In mid-August, we'll be asking them to crop and then photo their haul.

      Up here with the permafrost barely out of the ground, (okay, I'm exaggerating a wee bit) we're probably at least a month behind middle England so we are in the midst of sowing and planting. We can get frost even in early June so there's no rush to plant spuds until mid to late April. Planting earlier means frosted top growth .Polytunnel will be cleaned, dug and prepped for the show onions to be planted in May. Busy month

        I'll be setting up the supports for everything going vertical ready for planting out in May. This includes pea and bean wigwams but also frames for my squash, pumpkins and cucumbers. The seeds go into the heated propagator the first weekend of April as well.
