When it arrived we discovered it still had a film in it . After a little research of the film we found out that the type of film came onto the market in 1960 and had it’s name changed in 1962.
Then we found a company that still did developing of that sort of film. Took a punt and sent it off to see if there was any pictures recoverable.

Just 1 photo was any good.

It’s brilliant, we love it, considering the age ( some may think the photos not that old, I didn’t. until I realised it’s a decade older than me ). We’re very happy with it. The subject matter couldn’t be much better.
Does anyone have any idea where it is?

My first thought was a fishing port and it said Cornwall/Devon to me, until I noticed the steep mountains in the background.
Could it be a Scottish island?

It looks Scottish to me too.
But it’s not necessary in the uk. It could be abroad somewhere.

The other places it reminded me of are Nova Scotia/Newfoundland/ CapeBreton - the North east corner of Canada.

The buildings don't like very UKish to me. Do we have places with numerous buildings like that on stilts over the water? Holland? Scandinavia? Even a lake in Austria?

I don’t think the buildings are on stilts. I think it’s a re enforced harbour wall or pier in front of the buildings. Difficult to see especially after having to reduce the picture quality to upload it onto the forum.

Could they be for fishing boats to offload their catch and process it in the warehouse-looking buildings?

Where was the photographer standing? On a boat or a jetty.
Would a camera like that have been on a tripod?

Yeah VC very possibly for fishing boats unloading & processing in the buildings.
Been trying to work out if the photographer was on a boat / ferry or in a building. Personally looking at the right side of the photo I’d say ferry. That frame looks like a ferry window. But that’s still just a guess.
The camera does have the threaded hole for mounting on a tripod.

That’s very interesting. The buildings look very similar. Thanks VC. I’ll do a little more research in that area.

I thought Scottish with the hills in the background. The buildings & hills look a bit like this in Aberdeenshire,Goudon harbour?

Looks like dunmore east in Ireland to me, large building on the right looks like the pub where I got a last minute room after arriving by yacht with chronic sea sickness!
