  • Plop burgers

Plop cause they get plopped into the pan.

Grew some Charlotte spuds this year. Did well and had a large sack. Just used the last, they had sprouted a bit so peeled this last of the sack.

Used some for Sunday dinner, spuds, chicken and mushroom pie, yorkshire puds and sweetcorn cobs, yummy.

There were plenty left so made some plop burgers.

Two leeks from the garden, some nero kale, sage and thyme. Fried up with some salt and pepper.

Mashed the spuds and added veg and some oats. Then a bit of milk to bind and make them go "plop".

I use a burger press but you could just plop some mix into the pan.

Fry to crisp on both side.

Serve with some runny fried eggs and a dollop of piccalilli.

I also posted at this time to remind people that the best plop burgers are made from leftover turkey and christmas veg.

And I thought it was going to be a comment on some fast food!

Makes me feel hungry. Must make some soon but I'll stick to beef.

Lovely. I'd call this bubble and squeak. Don't know if that's a regional name. All the same it's a great dinner.

Bubble & squeak to me too, Jimny - or leftovers!
I shape it into balls in my hands and squash flat in the frying pan with a stainless steel paint scraper (never used for paint) Scrapers are the best for flipping things in frying pans as the blades are so thin. Mine are a set of 3 from ?L1dl years ago. Cheap too.

Anything called "plop" just make me things of dog poo - sorry Jimmy.

Yes, it's bubble and squeak - according to my kids, it was better than the dinner that the leftovers came from

It’s worth making extra just to have leftovers, MrPots favourite are those burnt bits that catch the bottom of the pan.
