    Can I do anything with my osteospernums?

    I have three osteospernums and they still seem to be flowering well (I'm in South-East England) but will need some attention soon.

    One is from last year - it looked ok so I left it in overwinter and it survived, the other 2 are new this year. I bought them as fillers from a garden centre but am now wondering whether I could take cuttings, or overwinter them somewhere? Perhaps it is best just to discard them when the time comes? They are very healthy plants.

    Can anyone out there advise me on what is likely to be the best option.

    If it's a relatively mild winter they will probably survive but a really cold, wet winter could see them off. As you're in the south east I would expect them to survive most winters. I think cuttings should root relatively easily if you have somewhere you can overwinter them?

    I've taken cuttings from something which might be an osteospermum recently but I've been traipsing them round in soggy tissue in a plastic bag for days so they're not in a good condition now I've got them home. Still hopeful they might root.

      Many thanks for that, I think I'll hedge my bets and try to take a few cuttings - and leave the plants in the ground, too. They are up against a house wall...so might be quite sheltered.

      Good luck with yours, soggy tissue and plastic bag notwithstanding, I hope they root.
