  • What is Growing in my Greenhouse????

We planted it with all the other Chillies. But it's not a Chilli. We have a vey healthy looking plant growing in our GH.
It's about 2 1/2 ft high and round-ish in shape. With small dark 'bay' like leaves. It's producing small white flowers, then small green to start with then blacky purple berries. The flesh inside the fruit is green and grape like with 4-6 tiny seeds.
I have tasted a couple, they are sweet without an awful lot of flavour.
(But i do have a stinking cold, they maybe very tasty)
Does any one have any idea what the could be, They are not blackcurrants, i've searched the web and books but can't come up with anything!
Please dont't ask for a photo - i don't know how to put them on!!!.... bear in mind it took for years for me to send my first sucsessful E mail.
Any help will be much appreicated

    Thankyou
    L

      Hi PaulW,
Could well be. I'm going to pop off to the GH later to cut a speciman.
How on earth did it get in my GH though!!!.
      Thankyou

        Huckleberry perhaps?

They could be huckleberries. These are known to look like deadly night shade but huckleberries are edible and they grow as an annual. I've grown them from seed once and they were very successful.

          HI Diana,
Thanks for advice, to be honest i've got rid of the. Which was a shame, but can't risk berries of unknown origin aroun kids.
It was a beautiful plant, know it wasn't around last year.
Other Half did say it might be a seed thats beuun dormant in soil, we've put our GH on top of it, and hey presto!.
Thanks again and welcome to vine
