The hard bit is the compost - that one bed has blown out 2/3 of my compost production, and I need to get another 3 beds done (and then top up all the others...). Going to be buying more this year.

At least this year should be the last year of building new beds.

Start some compost bays and bag everyone's green waste?
I have lots of wood chip delivered and that can rot down lovely? Have you got any local tree surgeons near by? Mine dumps loads in my yard.
It's just all too back breaking for me

and things only get shifted when my boys are home.

I got some free soil conditioner from the council tip, might be worth a look.

I do all those things as much as I can...

It's a time and motion issue.

We get woodchip on our plot free, I take my two neighbour's green bins (any more and I can't get them round), and I get coffee from my local coffee shop. All my home green waste goes into the dalek.

My heap was as tall as me at one stage

Not sure yet.

Will either be green manure until next year, or I may put over-wintering broad beans and garlic in.

The main problem I have with late-planted stuff is wildlife digging it up, so i have some pieces of chicken wire, but only enough for one bed. And they are currently holding the peas up....
