What a fabulous crop of potatoes. I know exactly what you mean - gardening can be full of ups and downs and some of them are totally unexpected.

It's why it's a great hobby, but a lousy career... (he says having been in the country all weekend, thinking "wouldn't it be nice...")

nice potatoes. I've got two beds in, one I think is Sharpe's express and they are still not quite dead.

And why are there no slug holes in those spuds?

                      Hi mcdood

Great spuds! I'll be planting potatoes in my new allotment next year and wondered how big was the area you used for that great crop??

                        Thanks Danny,

The bed space used was 330x130cm. (22 seed potatoes) 2 rows with seed potatoes 30cm apart. (the RHS recommendation for maincrop is for 75cm between rows and 37cm between seeds but you work with what you have)
A little eelworm damage on a few of them but not many. I did have some scab on some other potato varieties I grew (Arran Pilot, Pentland Javelin, Kestrel and Desiree) but not on these King Edwards, apparently they have good resistance, which is great as we'll bake a lot of these.

                          Cheers mcdood

How long will they store for and how do you intend to store them?
                          Cheers

The large ones will be stored in hessian sacks in the garage. I'd hope they'd last me well into winter. The smaller ones and damaged ones will be used in the next few weeks.
