    Anyone had a dabble making swede wine, the old fashion way? if so please post the recipe.

        Thanks, I'll have a go. Just brought a fermenting bucket and I have a full allotment bed of swede.

          Probably a stupid question but what's the old fashioned way?

            Without chemicals added, just the swede, yeast and sugar.

              Ah, all my wines are like that - didn't occur to me that people did it any differently at home.

              Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

                Never made swede wine it myself, but talking of chemicals, I'd be inclined to add a tsp of amalase in order to avoid it developing a starch haze. And I'd make sure I added a crushed campden tablet, and stabiliser when it finished fermented in order to - er - stabilise the wine.

                Yes 'natural' is good, but in this case adding if you don't add the chemicals you run the risk of cloudy wine which may explode the corks out the bottles...

                Edit - and yeast nutrient in with the yeast in order to get the fermentation off to a reliable start.
