  • Chilli chutney advice please!

I'm planning on making a second double batch of jamies cheeky chilli chutney this week, it's totally gorgeous.
I'm just not particularly relishing (ha ha - did you see what I did there!!!) the idea of peeling all those chilli and sweet peppers.
I'm wondering how much of a difference it'd make if I don't. The only thing is, some of it will be given away as pressies so it's got to be good.
Is anyone else lazy like me?
    What are your thoughts peeps?

I've not made it but peeling peppers? Does he put them under the grill and just tear the skin off when it has bubbled up?

In that case, I think the grilling is the bit that makes the flavour into what it is....and by then the skins are pretty soft but burnt - and you wouldn't want burnt bits in????

I did think peeling them with a peeler would be more trouble than it was worth and quite fiddly, and possibly quite dangerous getting all the chilliness over your hands.

I think the grilling bit is only really to get the skins off cause they are gonna be cooked anyway in the chutney, prior to which they will be whizzed up in the food processor which makes what me wonder if its worth peeling 20 chillies and 16 sweet peppers that are headed for the magimix anyway.

I wouldn't bother. I've tried grilling them then putting in a poly bag till they cool etc and to be honest, you do always get black bits in which I think is unsightly whereas a bit of skin never put me off.

You never get all the skin off do you? And once it's been grilled its tougher and as you say black!
Leave the skin on then d'you think?
Oh what the heck, if it's not perfect I'll have to scoff the lots myself!!!
