  • Cherry Jam not set....

    ...was it because I should have de-stoned it first before working out suger ratio?

    Bit confused cos I followed a recipe, the only difference being I used whole cherrys off the tree and not the red murchello(sp) the recipe said!

    Did your recipe suggest adding lemon juice or pectin?

      Sometimes it sets as it cools right down
      I would leave it in jars and get some Certo from tescos or wherever and re do it tomorrow. (I have 20 jars of redcurrant to re boil later! shhhh)

        Cook the cherries with their stones in a bag before adding preserving sugar. It should work.

          Lemon juice, so maybe not enough? I've some pectin in the cupboards so will do it again. Tsk tsk.

          Nice poured on vanilla icecream though!

            I put some in the fridge so not a cooling down thing.

            (whispers - 20!! Luckily I only have 6
