  • Banana recipes?

Tesco's are always selling banana's at reduced prices (20p for a mahoosive bag!) and I just wondered if any grapes had tried and tested uses for them. I prefer them when they are ripe but you have to be quite choosy as some are just brown and mushy.

I've tried drying them without much success as they went black and the taste changed dramatically, but there must be preserves or drinks that can be made from them?

I've just had porridge with nanas; I put the nanas in whilst making the porridge so add more milk if you do this.

Banana bread uses brown mushy bananas. OH made two yesterday, we all love it.

For the not so mushy, banoffee pie is a yummy treat

banana bread : my favourite recipe here:

If you try drying them, either use a fruit dryer or try coating in a sugar solution first. I used to buy from a market stall in Brisbane that did divine dried bananas with cinnamon, and with dried coconut

There are loads of banana bread recipes on t'interweb. Choose the one you like according to the ingredients you have. In my experience the easiest ones are the best.

Banana bread also freezes really well so if you've got freezer space it's a great way to use up bananas.

                    Banaana bread here too...or muffins.

Kiddies love a real babanana smoothie, just whizz them up with some milk or if you're feeling a little indulgent, vanilla icecream.

I love banana and cheese on toast. Either slice or mush the banana up and pop on the toast under the cheese.

I was also going to say banana muffins. I made some eggless banana muffins the other day (uses banana in place of eggs as well as for flavour) and they were very tasty (if I do say so myself).

I have a friend who is diabetic, I'm planning some sugarless banana loaf-cake in the hopes she can eat it....
