  • 75cl Orange Juice in Bottles from Lidl

When I was a young thing, even the thought of OJ at breakfast was a no-no. Now that I've turned 50, I almost can't wait to wake up? But my point is that once you've drunk the OJ, you're left with a perfectly brilliant 'wide-necked' bottle, which has cost you nothing more than the bottle of OJ, which is 75p, and if you wash it, stick it through a dishwasher cycle with the rest of your stuff, you've basically gained yourself a preserving jar for nothing, and it's got one of those 'safety button' jobbies on the top of the lid. So, if you're like me, last year, and bought one of those Jamming/Bottling/Canning/ Steriliser Johnnies from Lidl, these 75cl bottles fit absolutely perfectly into it for 'sterilising'/preserving your produce, whereas a bog-standard wine bottle doesn't fit, because its' too tall.
If you've made a fruit cordial and you only want to store it for a few months, that's fine, because you won't need to sterilise it for preservation, but I like to make cordials to last 12 months, and bottle fresh fruit to add to yoghurts and make smoothies out of for a whole year, so I like to sterilise my preserves rather than waste freezer space, so this innovative idea makes huge sense for me personally.
And I hope it helps you too.X
Hence my Making the Most 'Tip' for you here.X.
