will this keep somewhere other than a fridge?
I have a cupboard in the shed I put stuff in, so the temp is usually cooler in there than it is outside in the summer, but warmer in winter, would that be ok?

Cor that sounds nice, I was just wondering yesterday about pickling courgettes when the glut starts! Perfect timing thank you!

    TBH I don't know!
The top shelf in my fridge is always reserved for lots of jars of it!I guess as long as it doesn't get too hot & they're away from direct sunlight they should be OK?
I've still got 1/2 a jar in the fridge from last year,so I can at least vouch for the fact that they last well in the fridge.....as long as you make lots!

Is fresh chilli an acceptable addition? Just curious as I was reading about chilli oil and botulism and it worried me
Excuse me, could we have an eel? You've got eels down your leg.

I don't know...but from last weeks mistakes I learnt that forgetting the sugar is not a good thing!

Wow! What can I say, I have just tasted it - very, very nice indeed!

The only deviation from the recipe was that I only had yellow mustard seeds. I think I will be making another batch shortly! I left out the chilli.

Thank you very much for sharing the recipe!

You don't need to worry about botulism with adding chilli's to a pickling liquid as the vinegar and sugar prevent the growth of the bacteria. Its a problem with oil as that doesn't stop the bacteria.
