me again! I made a batch of wine loosely based on the tea bag recipe. 10 Blackcurrant tea bags, 2 cranberry and apple, 1 carton red grape juice and 1 carton of apple. It has been brewing away for nearly 2 weeks and it tastes horrible. It has an after taste similar to cheap vodka and the flavour of it tastes like it needs watering down. Does any one think it is saveable or worth while storing to see if it will improve? The sg was 1090 at the start and is now 995. Thank you

Difficult to say as we can't actually taste it; I've made a brew from 10 earl grey teabags and it doesn't smell of earl grey at all - it's fermenting like mad and smells like beer. So goodness knows!

i might try and split it and see what happens if i add some water. When you drink it with water, (50/50) it tastes like a rose until the vodka taste hits you. Oh well i suppose it costs nothing to let it sit out of the way. Earl grey wine sounds good. I've got a pg tips one on the go. It's a bit sweet still, but currently tastes like sherry.

Might be one you need to leave to mature, I done an apple juice one and it was foul, left it for six months and it was really nice

I agree with Carol; I wouldn't drink a wine after just a fortnight. Mine are all in the shed maturing

ok i'll stabilise it and pop it in the shed for a while. I wasn't planning on drinking it just yet just tried it whilst it was being put into a clean bottle. Thank you for your help.

De-gas and leave to clear and mature a bit. Once clear, transfer to a clean bottle (without the lees) and wait and see what it does.

Bottle it and leave it for as long as it takes, I've made blackberry wine and it has a sort of acidic tang to it, but the recipe says to leave for at least 2 years.

BTW my mum was clearing out her garage the other day and she found a bottle of blackberry wine they made 24 years ago. She said she tasted it and thought it a bit sweet then poured the rest down the drain
