  • wilkos strawberry kit wine

is actually really good. Bottled it tonight. It's a not too sweet and not too sharp, but really fruity rose.
Cost about £5, bottles were free, corks about a pound.
I drink a bottle of rose every week at about £4 ish, depends what's on offer.
This has made 6 full bottles, so has saved me £19.

I know it's a cheat's way, but this one is actually surprising! The red cabernet kit one I did before xmas is thin tasting and drinkable but not memorable.

Just wanted to share in case anyone wanted to try them and didn't know if it was worth it. Will defo make this one again.

Thanks for the tip JaneyO - I love strawberry wine - just as strawberries can be a bit sharp, so the wine can be fruity and dry all at the same time. I made a batch once (about 20 years ago) from the fruit and it came out sparkling (lazy racking /clearing) and it was soooo good! So, in the interest of pursuing the past I'll have a go with Wilcos kit - if I can find where the devil they hide it in the store and queue for half an hour to pay for it!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
