  • Strawberry wine

We had guests at the weekend and they gave me a bottle a Lyme Bay strawberry wine. It is sooo delicious that I must make some myself. I have most of the ingredients to hand but only bog standard wine yeast. Will the results be better if I buy a white wine or champagne yeast. I do not want it bubbly though.

I was going to make some strawberry wine last weekend, but ended up using them to make jam.

There's quite a few recipes on this site, some use wine yeast and some use champagne yeast .... look forward to hearing which one you choose and how it turns out.

To be honest Bren, when I started wine making - yonks ago - I used to buy special yeasts to suit the style of wine I was making. Modern general purpose wine yeast is so good now that I don't think you'll tell the difference.

Thanks peeps. I will definitely not have enough homegrown strawberries for this so will wait till Wimbledon is over before I buy bulk. It can be so delicious.
