  • Ginger wine recipe please?

    Years ago I made a batch of ginger wine that has a place in heaven. But i've lost the recipe. I know it used root ginger and raisins and did not use grape concentrate but I can't remember anything more. I could play around until I got it right (or my liver packed in) but I just know there will be someone out there with a suggestion. Thanks.

        Ginger wine recipe please?

        Hi Digger,
        Try Alligator Wine for my fourth ginger wine recipe, I like to taste the ginger in my wines & use 150g in this recipe. Note that all my recipes have actually been made AND drunk. Have you tried growing your own ginger? If not you could try Grow Your Own Beer, Wine & Cider

          Judith's Ginger Wine

          Ginger Wine

          2 oz fresh root ginger, chopped
          1 lb sultanas, chopped
          2 lb ripe bananas, chopped
          2 lb sugar
          1 tsp citric acid (or juice of a lemon)
          1 tsp nutrient
          1 tsp pectolase
          white wine yeast


          1. Put ginger & sultanas in a fermenting bin. Dissolve sugar in 5 pts of boiling water, and add.

          2. Boil bananas in 1 pt water for 20 mins, then strain the liquid into fermenting bin.

          3. When cooled to 20c, add yeast & additives

          4. Stir daily for four days, then strain into DJ, fit airlock

          5. Rack and ferment to dry as usual

            Thanks for the recipe...

            I've just finished preparing it for the fermentation bucket.

            I'll let you know next year how it tastes!
