I've been on here for nearly 2 weeks now, so better say 'hello' properly

Hubby and I live in the countryside between Brum and Tamworth. We've got a walled garden, but before you get jealous, most of it's weeds! However, our home lottie is about 25 x 25 yds, so it's enough to keep us occupied! We grow mainly old/heirloom veg, apart from spuds, for some reason we don't do well with the old ones, yet Rocket etc do really well

I'm so pleased to have joined the 'vine - my very first attempt at anything like this!! Have already made some lovely friends!
Hello to all my new friends, and those I've yet to meet (cue for a song?)

Hello Rosemary and welcome to the Vine. I was born in Tamworth (well, Mile Oak to be exact) and my Granparents used to live in Sutton Coldfield. Do you know our very own Hazel at the Hill? She has her lottie at Hill allotments which, is near Sutton Coldfield.
Good luck with the weeds and, yes, I am jealous of your walled garden
            Happy gardening.

I'm ahead of you here, Scarey Clarey - I met Rosemary & OH the other weekend.

You're right to be jealous of the walled garden, and she's keeping jolly quiet about a big glasshouse, unless that belonged to next door...

Whoo - a walled garden - weeds are just passing strangers - get em up!
Sounds like you'll fit in a treat here - lots of heritage veg growers.

Hi Rosemary. Welcome to the vine. Another green grape here - that walled garden and large glass house sound wonderful! (Envy Envy)
A good beginning is half the work.

Yep Hazel, that big greenhouse is ours, plus the other 2 you didn't see!! What you forgot to mention is that the big cedar one is on its last legs!! Bit like me really Thanks v. much for the LL's, are you sure there's nothing you would like of ours? Maybe later on you can call in and have the guided tour, just give us chance to get through some of the weeds first!!
Might see you at Ryton, if we can plough through the snow

Wrap up warm - Ryton is always (a) freezing cold and (b) wet underfoot. Worth perservering to the show gardens (even with not much going on at this time of year) and not to be missed is the seed swap!

Tell me about it!! We've been to Ryton for the last 4 or 5 years, not just Spud Day, but also mid-summer, and it's STILL been bitter! Can't be any worse than our back garden though, it can be sunny on the front (by the road) and raining/sleeting 'round the back!
