    Hello

I retired last October and the plan was always to do a lot more in the garden including growing some vegetables. No real rush to do it but with the forced ( and sensible) stay at home message due to Covid-19, I now have plenty of time on my hands. Luckily I bought the material to construct raised beds a number of weeks ago.

My original plan was to construct 4 but I have settled on 2 to see how I get on, can always add more at a later date.

Will be planting out my first pototoes during the week.

Here is the beds will need to erect some sort of fence to keep deer out as we are plagued with them in the garden.

Looking forward to tapping into the knowledge and advice on the forum

      Welcome to the vine!

What else to you plan to grow?
Deer can be a pain - I can get them some years others they don't bother coming in. I won't grow sweet corn anymore as I'm sure they can smell them from miles away

Last year I had rabbits! But them liked my clematis?! More than my lettuce. I had one that would sneak in when I was gardening. Bloody menace!

Hello and welcome from another deer-infested garden - we opted for an electric fence between us and the forest with mixed success. All the new shoots on one of my roses were stripped the other night!
                Lovely looking raised beds
                Happy gardening!

                          Hi and welcome.

Feel free to ignore me, most people do , but I think you should build the other 2 beds. Now is a great time to be sowing and I guarantee that you will fill those 2 beds in no time and need more ground.
If you have to erect a deer fence you may as well enclose 4 beds as 2.
Go on, you know you want to.

You won’t go far wrong if you listen to the resident chicken. So my advice is do what she said .

What you got, roe, red, fallow, sika, muntjac?
