Hello to everyone, as I said in a thread I posted I came upon this site by accident and what a great bunch of people you are.
My name is Dai Hooper and am 69 years young, myself and my good lady live in Oakdale near Blackwood in Gwent Wales (known as the center of the known universe!!).
Besides the passion for gardening I also build radio controlled model boats.
Now retired I spent 22 years in The Army (RCT) the 16 years in a food factory so gardening is gives me a great sense of achievement when we can eat what I grow.
Mainly tomatoes in the greenhouse but we also have a varied garden with fuschias our main display.
So thank you for allowing me onto the site.
    Regards
    Dai H

Hi Dai! This is a super friendly forum and it's a pleasure to have you join us

I can imagine you saw things in food production that makes you never want to eat mass-produced food again lol

I share your love for fuschias although I have less than you, I think

Bore da to you veggie chicken and diolch, no I will never hold it against anyone who lives in Cardiff a sense of sadness maybe that a lot of you there wake up to the sounds of the city whereas my alarm clock is an owl hooting in the woods (snooze is not an option!!). But I think that there are pros and cons to everything, the worst con being the price of drinks where you are!!.
Sarrisuk well the factory I worked in produced the flavouring for crisps (not the actual crisps) and also the curry powder for the chip shops plus many more but never offer me any wotsits as after doing that flavour you are well and truly tangoed!! and the aroma isn't too clever but you get served at a bar pretty darn quick I mean cheese aftershave yuk.
Again thanks to you all and thank you for the good wishes on my upcoming season.
Oh as for the fuschias like lots in life it, it is not the quantity but the quality of the enjoyment it brings to you.
                        Regards

Don't worry Dai, I'm out in the sticks and have my share of owls too.

I have to ask -------what's an alarm? Is it the same thing as an iron?
