    Hi from Wallsend.

    Thought I'd best get around to saying hello and introducing myself. Have just obtained a plot 10x22 metres here in sunny (ha) Wallsend. 2 minutes walk from my front door, very overgrown as it hasn't been worked in the past two years and more broken glass on it than in Pilkingtons skips. Slowly but surely the plot will come together though (or so I keep telling myself), now have shed installed so just need shelf for tea making things and all will be complete (I wish).

    Married, two English Springer Spaniel pups and a newbie to allotments, expect plenty of questions and the occasional reply.

    Welcome! Hope to hear more of how you get on with your glass removal/veg growing project. It's a fantastic hobby (not glass removal, obviously!) and even better, you get to eat it all!

        Well - you wont get much exercise walking to the plot then! You'll just have to make up for it when you get there and believe me you will. On the other hand there are all the rewards. Aching back, dry sun/windburnt skin, insect bites etc and oh yes, the veg too!! Welcome to the vine. Good luck with the clearing up. Sanjo

          Erm, not a Geordie boy but a Yorkshirelad living in Geordieland
