  • Hi from Wallsend, North Tyneside

Hi everyone, I stumbled across this forum after yet another local area allotment search. A link brought me to a feed about vacant overgrown plots that have sat empty for long periods of time, it was about 5 years old.

My partner registered with the council 3 years ago and to date has never heard anything which has kind of been a good thing as we have had a very busy few years. Changed jobs, moved house and had a baby!
Things have settled down a bit and I got to thinking about it again as currently we don't have a massive amount of space in the garden (1 raised bed, a small shelved greenhouse, and pots). The latest problem though is my 2 year old who thinks she is helping by digging in all the pots so I don't think we will be having as much success as previous years. However it's great to see the enjoyment she's gets out of digging and playing in the garden.

So I have registered on the waiting list and we shall see if anything comes of it. For now I will be continuing with our small space growing and browsing the feeds here as the advice and knowledge will be great for us inexperienced growers.

Hello Stobbs and welcome. If I were you I'd pop round to the lottie sites and see if you can have a word with someone about plots rather than just rely on them getting in touch with you.

Welcome along - as Jay says - a lot of people have more luck by going down to the local plots and having a word with the people there - you've got nothing to lose by trying. Good luck
