  • Hi from the south east

    Long time lurker here,

Thought Id start joining the discussions.

This will be my third year of owning a greenhouse.

Year 1, no idea, just planted a load of stuff including strawberrys. Left them inside the green house and all got powdery meldew! Planted tomatoes and cucumbers but no idea I had to prune, so had a small harvest. Grabbed the odd bit of lettuce etc, but didnt keep replanting so ran out quickly.

Year 2!, Strict pruning! Got my tomatoes and cucumbers, but Strawberry outside all got eaten by the birds!

Now in year 3! Got the bug, started all my seedlings in January, and everything's gone leggy! Trying to bury the stem to the seed leaves etc, and rescue things.

Seems like a never ending learning curve, which is one of the best things about it. This year will be doing potatoes, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, kale, rocket, and .. (its a big and) If I get the allotment Iv asked for, a lot more!

Hope to become part of the comunity!

Hello and welcome, you can only get better, the first 40 years seem to be the best to learn gardening, so only 3 down and 37 to go.

Hi and welcome from another lurker turned newbie.

I wish you well in getting your allotment, we were told there wasn't any point in putting our name down by the council for one as the waiting list was so long, but my wife got to know one of the plot holders who told her this was hogwash. He put her in touch with the administrator of the plot, and 3 weeks later we had our plot.

I would speak to the people on the plots if you can, as they will probably be more help than contacting the council.

Whereabouts are you in the South-east, we are near Chichester
