I like growing the odd one or two chillies. Not been growing as long as you.
Have you tried proper polytunnel tape? I�ve always found that work well. I usually put it on both sides of the rip. Never had any big rips or holes though.

I have very expensive it is too, I think it's my original cover that doesn't take the tape as the repair material comes away wit the tape, I am going to use a roll of clear baling plastic
and see how I go.

Hi Stigs and welcome to the vine, l’m new to poly tunnel myself just got mine this year, look back on some of my threads and you’ll see some photos. I’ve not grown chillies before so I’m planning on starting next spring. I’ve got me some chilli seeds to get me started, thinking of about 2-3 per type, I’ve seeds for 4 or 5 different species.

I soak my seeds in cold weak tea overnight first most good seeds will germinate
you may find some species take up to 8 weeks, I find the superhot and some original
south American seeds can take the longest. I have always started germination straight after Xmas that usually means I have fairly decent plants to plant out when the nights are warm enough.

On the subject of holes - sticking is two sides, the new sticky bit and the thing you are sticking too.

Have you cleaned and de-greased that before sticking? (Whenever I glue anything to anything else, I wipe it down with automotive brake cleaner (NOT brake fluid).

Could you get a mechanical hold? make a bigger patch and stitch it on before covering the stitching with tape.

Also - have you tried Stormshield? it's a tent glue and brilliant

I have cleaned with various products thanks, I can get my tape to stick two bits of repair matirial togeher and leave them outside and they are fine it's just whatever material my original cover was made from. I'm not bothered as someone brought me some 8ft by 3ft strengthened glass panels on Saturday so I'll be mounting these instead.

prepare to fight aphids and earwigs the later lay eggs inside medium to large chillies, plenty of companion plants I use garlic for insects and sacrificial marigolds for slugs.
I keep all but the really hardy and slug resistant in pots.
