  • Hi all, nice to meet ya's.

    Hi Guys and Gal's,

A quick intro: I'm very very new to the whole gardening experience, mainly because i don't have a garden as such, more a back yard with limited space so i decided to potter about and see what and how i can grow stuff. (all containered)

As it stands i'm growing varities of tom's, chillies, cucumber, pumpkin, strawberrys and a whole lot more.

As i have a container garden so to speak any tips on container growing will be greatfully received

Hello Gazz. Welcome to the Vine. UK is a bit vague for a location, can you narrow it down to a county or a town? Much more helpful when giving advice. Potstubsdustbins (Colin) is the one for advice on container growing.

Me too! Though I do really miss a garden - sigh ah well, pots are better than nothing! I'm having a go at vertical gardeing which is posher than it sounds! I've just gone a bit mad with some trellis and a load of huge shoelaces! But stuff is rambling up them so it's working! Think I over use exclamation points!!! But that's how I talk so!!! Welcome btw
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

        Hi Rustylady,
Sry for being a bit vague, I live in the NW of Northern Ireland, not overly hot and always raining which is a proper pain in the backside because i love the heat.

            Hi Ancee,
I would love a garden to but hay ho what can u do eh, I suppose half the challenge I have is coming up with idea's to A-make the garden look nice B-actually get stuff to grow.
I have 2 small mobile greenhouse type things which my tom's chillis and cucmbers are in, god knows what i'm gunna do when they grow, and a few boxes with veg in it which is taking off quite nicely.
i'm just waiting for the weather to change to start trying my hanging basket ideas.

Hello Gazza and a very warm welcome to the Vine. I do a bit of container growing as well, particularly when my earth in the garden is full, stops me from pinching even more lawn.

Hello from me too! I do a fair bit of container growing. I'm like Florence Fennel and grow in my garden. The OH is going a bit nuts as I keep pinching more and more of his precious lawn for veggies, so I grow mainly salad stuff, toms, carrots and spring onions in containers. For the first time this year I'm trying butternut squash. I'm still a bit of a newbie myself, but if I can help give me a shout
If it comes from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don't!!
