  • Hello, greetings from another newbie :)

    Hello,

I am a newbie grow your own(er) with regards to vegetables been growing my own vegetables which has mainly been tomatoes, peppers, courgette and herbs for a coupe of years now. First year was hit and miss but last year my produce was really good especially the tomatoes. Most of the growing vegetables has been in eco pots and eco growbags. Been trying to grow organic without any chemicals or additives.

In future would like to be part of a community garden or have a small hold with chickens and goats. Also interested in cooking and homebrew especially ale.

Looking for helpful advice and to get to know other local allotment and small hold owners in my area.

Look forward to speaking to you all soon.

    Thanks
    Steph

                      Hi,

Thank you for all the warm welcomes and will forward to pick your brains on other parts of the forum

FlorenceFennel - I do too, think it was fairies that help the vegetables grow last couple of years , that or luck ha ha.

taff - Thank you for advice, only reason I used growbags is that my soil is majority clay and hard to dig over and mix it with compost/top soil and fertilizer. Have health problems so find it hard digging over my veg patch as it was massive. So in end just did a small patch and grew potatoes and garlic.

Bigmally - Thanks, tha hopes to learn summat fra ya. Tha still dun't know wha tha doing wi ma garden un veg patch. Love it when you hear older people from some parts of West & South Yorkshire, speaking their true Yorkshire dialect/old words. It's really hard trying decipher what they are saying but love sound of proper Yorkshire speak. Shame it has died out a lot now, I suppose that's same throughout country with all regional accents

veggiechicken - lol, think also that I live there too especially with regards to growing asparagus ha ha.

Thank you very much to all of you and will get posting soon
