  • Havannah lane

    Hi,

I'm new to this site I share an allotment with three friends on the Havannah lane site in Parr St Helens.

We got the plot early summer last year and despite a late start we managed a decent harvest. This year we want to try and sort the plot out a bit better though, get some fencing up and put a few raised beds in.

If your on the Havannah lane site contact me as it would be great if we could set up an allotment committee and apply for grants to get the place sorted out a bit (It's a bit rough at the moment to say the least)

    Regards John

        Hi Nicos and FionaH,

Were planning on concentrating on improving our plot this year but we will still be planting some crops mainly potatoes, sweetcorn, beetroot, carrots and fence posts!

Fence posts eh????....you'll not regret it - esp if you put up some fencing in between !!!!

          Sounds like a good start!

                    Hi,

I've a plot (20) on Havannah Lane. I agree that the council needs to spend some money on the site like they have with the other sites in Parr. I've already complained to St Helens council about the fencing etc. Which plot is yours?

                    Helen.

Hello HelenL, were up at the far end the one with the metal shed, can't remember what number it is!

We could all do with meeting up at some point to try and get some stuff done.

Me and Dave (he shares the plot with me) are there most Sunday mornings.

Good idea Helen, I've already complained and had email passed on, still nothing. Will have to all send in complaints at once I think. Can let you have the details for contacts if you want?

                            Hi everyone,

I went to the allotment this weekend & all the taps had been turned off because of a leak. Someone kindly gave me some water from their house. While I was there kids got through the fence. I've been told the council are having a meeting on the 26th March so I'm going to send a complaint today. The more complaints the better.

                            Helen.

                              Hi everyone,

The council have replied saying they visited the site yesterday. They will sort out the lack of water as soon as possible and organise a clean up of unwanted debris within the next 4 weeks. They mentioned they might organise a meeting with plot holders in May.

                              Helen.
